With the Hell Melter Advanced Metal Distortion, Electro Harmonix present an even more inspiring and formidable version of a classic HM-style chainsaw distortion, setting it up with an EQ section, two modes and a boost switch. In Normal mode, you get the pure, unadulterated sound of everything from Gothenburg death metal to shoegaze, or even the iconic guitar sound of David Gilmour of Pink Floyd fame. But EHX has ensured that the character packed distortion of this pedal can be taken even further. Shift up into Burn mode and you gain more clipping options backed up by an internal voltage boost that provides even more headroom. This stompbox comes including a 9V power supply.

The EHX Hell Melter: Way More Than Just Chainsaw Distortion

To give the output of this pedal a hefty push at the right moment, simply hit the Boost switch on the left, and to mould everything into shape, the especially potent three-band EQ controls can be dialled in. Besides your standard-issue bass, treble and middle controls, this section includes an extra pot to control the level of the selected mid frequency, so you can either emphasise or weaken the mids to support mix-piercing leads or thick and solid chord work. Whether you're jacking in a guitar or bass, your clean sound can be mixed with the wet via the supplied mini Dry Level pot and, to polish things off, simply tweak the mini Gate pot over on the other side to tighten things up and wipe the sound clean of any less welcome noise.
